The Ladder
Season 2 runs on a rating. You climb it by winning, you are paired against people sitting near you on it, and five prizes are paid out of the community pool when it ends. Everything on this page is fixed before the first ball is struck.
20% of the goal. Nobody pays to play and nobody can buy an advantage. Prizes are a fixed share of whatever the pool holds on the final day, so if it grows, every prize grows with it.
| Prize | Won by | Share | Today | At goal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Playoff champion | Wins the end-of-season bracket | 30% | $300 | $1,500 |
| Tier 1 champion | Highest final rating on the tour | 22% | $220 | $1,100 |
| Tier 2 champion | Highest final rating in Tier 2 | 18% | $180 | $900 |
| Tier 3 champion | Highest final rating in Tier 3 | 15% | $150 | $750 |
| The Climb | Biggest rating gain of the season | 15% | $150 | $750 |
The RogueX Cup runs for honours this season. Banner, badge and a permanent place in the record, but no cash until the pool clears $2,500. Splitting a small pool six ways leaves nothing worth chasing.
Three or four wins moves you up
Every player carries a Tour Rating. It goes up when you win and down when you lose, and it is weighted by who you beat: taking down someone above you pays well, beating someone well below you barely moves it.
A win is worth roughly 25 to 35 points, so three or four net wins carries you into the tier above. Movement is meant to be felt inside a single season.
Ratings settle at the end of each week and promotions are announced in Discord before the next round is paired. You move for Week 9, not mid-round.
The ladder starts here, so everyone is placed on it by handicap rank. From Season 3 onward you carry your closing rating straight in.
Your flight can fall. Your tier cannot.
These are two different things, and the whole season hangs on the difference.
Your flight is the group you get paired against, set by your current rating. Lose a run of matches and you drop into an easier flight, where the golf is winnable again and you can rebuild.
Your tier is your prize class, and you earn it. Reach Tier 1 and you are a Tier 1 player for the rest of the season no matter what your rating does afterwards. You cannot fall back into an easier prize.
Why it is built this way. If tiers could fall, a mid-table Tier 1 player with nothing left to win could lose on purpose, drop into Tier 2 and take its prize as the strongest player in the room. Because tiers only climb, there is no week of the season where losing buys you anything. Dropping a flight still gets you the easier, more enjoyable matches, which is the part worth keeping.
Climb into a new flight and you cannot be dropped out of it for three weeks. A promotion should be a run at tougher opponents, not a single rough week that sends you straight back down.
Sixteen weeks, then the bracket
New players start at the bottom
Season 2 is free and open, including to players who arrive halfway through. Returning players are seeded by handicap rank. Anyone new walks in at the bottom, whatever they say their handicap is.
What voids a prize
Short list, and it exists because there is real money at the end of it.
- Losing on purpose to shift your tier, flight or seeding. Forfeits any prize.
- Understating a handicap at signup to land in an easier flight.
- More than one account. One person, one account, one Discord link.
- Unverifiable results. A screenshot or VOD can be asked for before a payout, and a prize is held while a dispute is open.
- Cash prizes are 18 and over. Players aged 13 to 17 compete and appear in the standings in full, with a non-cash alternative offered.
- A tier with fewer than five eligible players at season end does not pay. Its share rolls into the playoff prize.
